Electron-Impact Ionization of Carbon

چکیده
We present ionization cross-sections of collisions between electrons and carbon atoms using the classical trajectory Monte Carlo method. Total are benchmarked against reported experimental data predictions numerically intensive theoretical methods as well pioneering calculations for this collision system. At impact energies greater than about 100 eV, results in very good agreement with generalized oscillator strength formulation Born approximation data. Limitations inherent to a purely description electron process at low detected analyzed, suggesting clear route future studies.

Ionization of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen by electron impact
Total ionization cross sections of neutral carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen atoms by electron impact are presented. In our theory we have included the possibilities that ~a! some target atoms used in an experiment were in metastable states close to the ground state, ~b! excitation-autoionization of 2s2p exited states may be substantial, and ~c! ions produced in experiments may be in excited, low-ly...
متن کاملElectron-impact ionization of Mg
A pulsed crossed beam technique is used to measure ionization cross-sections of metallic atoms. Relative values of cross-sections of single, double and triple ionization of magnesium have been successfully measured with good accuracy over the 0-700 eV range. Absolute values of cross-sections have been obtained by normalization to a theoretical value at high electron energy. Results are compared...
متن کاملElectron impact ionization of H_2+
The electron impact ionization cross section of H2 is calculated using a distortedwave approximation. The calculated cross section is compared to the experimental results of Peart and Dolder. The simplicity of the system allows an assessment of the accuracy of the distorted-wave approximation without complications from inaccuracies in the target state, initial continuum state, or final continuu...
متن کاملAbsolute Electron Impact Ionization Cross
Normalized values of cross sections for the production of ions by electron impact on N20 and NO have been obtained by utilizing the relative flow technique. The accurately known values of cross sections for the production of singly charged ions of rare gases from the parent atoms have been used for the normalization. Cross sections for the generation of fragment ions have been measured for the ...
