چکیده

Phenolic pollutants raise health and environmental concerns due to their widespread occurrence in industrial wastewaters. Electrooxidation was studied for phenol degradation different supporting electrolytes: NaCl, Na 2 SO 4 , H . Experiments were performed at constant current density 20 mA cm ?2 Two anode materials tested ? boron-doped diamond (BDD) mixed-metal oxide (MMO). Degradation process its impact investigated from technological, analytical, ecotoxicological viewpoints. Removal efficiency monitored by index spectrophotometric method removal quantified with HPLC-DAD. Additionally, transformation by-products tracked GC-MS LC-MS, as well ion chromatography. Finally, ecotoxicity using Daphnia magna efficient had low energy consumption. The use of BDD led higher efficiencies induced more progressive simple organic acids, compared MMO. Selection electrolyte affected pathways detoxification pattern. Treatment NaCl complete 30 min, but undesired chlorinated aromatic formed. sulphate medium slower processes irrespective pH, less problematic minimal emerged. By multi-aspect methodology, this study reevaluates electrooxidative contributes better understanding electrooxidation performance water treatment.

A comparison of electrochemical degradation of phenol on boron doped diamond and lead dioxide anodes

This work compares two electrode materials used to mineralize phenol contained in waste waters. Two disks covered with either boron doped diamond (BDD) or PbO2 were used as anodes in a one compartment flow cell under the same hydrodynamic conditions. Efficiencies of galvanostatic electrolyses are compared on the basis of measurements of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD...

Metal-to-insulator transition and superconductivity in boron-doped diamond.

The experimental discovery of superconductivity in boron-doped diamond came as a major surprise to both the diamond and the superconducting materials communities. The main experimental results obtained since then on single-crystal diamond epilayers are reviewed and applied to calculations, and some open questions are identified. The critical doping of the metal-to-insulator transition (MIT) was...

Effect of nitro substituent on electrochemical oxidation of phenols at boron-doped diamond anodes.

In order to investigate nitro-substitutent's effect on degradation of phenols at boron-doped diamond (BDD) anodes, cyclic voltammetries of three nitrophenol isomers: 2-nitrophenol (2NP), 3-nitrophenol (3NP) and 4-nitrophenol (4NP) were studied, and their bulk electrolysis results were compared with phenol's (Ph) under alkaline condition. The voltammetric study showed nitrophenols could be attac...
