چکیده
Abstract Context To enable prevention and treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), understanding risk factors for AMD is important. Objective We tested the hypotheses that elevated plasma apolipoprotein A1 high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol low levels low-density (LDL) are associated with increased AMD. Methods From Danish general population, we studied 106 703 16 032 individuals in Copenhagen General Population Study (CGPS) City Heart (CCHS) median follow-up 9 32 years, respectively. The main outcome measures were 1787 CGPS 206 CCHS. Results Higher concentrations HDL cholesterol, lower LDL higher CGPS. After multifactorial adjustment, highest versus lowest quartile had hazard ratios 1.40 (95% CI: 1.20-1.63) 1.22 (1.03-1.45). Corresponding 1.18 (1.02-1.37). Per 100 mg/dL A1, 1 mmol/L (39 mg/dL) HDL, mmol/L) 1.53(1.31-1.80), 1.19 (1.07-1.32), 1.05 (1.00-1.11), respectively, similar results across strata different factors. also Conclusion Elevated

Association of Apolipoprotein E Alleles with Susceptibility to Age-Related Macular Degeneration in Iranian Patients
Background: We aimed here to investigate the association between alleles and genotypes of APOE and Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) development. Materials and Methods: After ophthalmological examination, 120 patients with confirmed AMD and 120 healthy controls were enrolled in the study. The polymorphic segment of APOE gene was PCR-amplified and sequenced to determine the frequency distr...
متن کاملGenetic association of apolipoprotein E with age-related macular degeneration.
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common geriatric eye disorder leading to blindness and is characterized by degeneration of the neuroepithelium in the macular area of the eye. Apolipoprotein E (apoE), the major apolipoprotein of the CNS and an important regulator of cholesterol and lipid transport, appears to be associated with neurodegeneration. The apoE gene (APOE) polymorph...

متن کاملGender Associated Lipid and Apolipoprotein Profile in Patients with Age-Related Macular Degeneration
The role of lipid parameters disorder in the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is unclear. The aim of this study was to analyze lipid profile in these patients and to test the influence of gender on lipid profile of AMD patients, especially in the early and late form of the disease. 82 patients with AMD (mean age 70.3 yrs) and 80 age-matched control subjects were included in...
متن کاملPrevalence of Elevated Non-HDL Cholesterol among Patients with Diabetes in An Iranian Population
Background and Aims: Non-high density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C), which reflects all cholesterol present in potentially atherogenic lipoprotein particles, might be a useful marker of atherosclerosis in diabetic subjects. In the present study, we evaluated the prevalence of high non-HDL-C in patients with dyslipidemia in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects following LDL-C assessment as t...
