Enabling Dynamic Autoscaling for NFV in a Non-Standalone Virtual EPC: Design and Analysis

Network function virtualization (NFV) is a novel concept that enables an architectural transition from dedicated hardware to orchestrated resource and management. As integral part of the core network, NFV offers fine-grained network capability cellular operators by scaling out or in resources on-demand manner meet performance requirements. However, designing autoscaling algorithm with low operation cost latency non-standalone networks, where legacy equipment coexists virtual evolved packet (EPC), challenging task. In this paper, we propose dynamic instance considers tradeoff between cost. Furthermore, develop analytical framework assess scheme modeling hybrid as queueing system includes both instances. The virtualized (VNF) instances are powered on off according number job requests. Numerical results based extensive simulations validate correctness model effectiveness algorithm.
