چکیده
The energy- and flux-budget (EFB) theory developed previously for atmospheric stably stratified turbulence is extended to the surface layer in convective turbulence. This based on budget equations turbulent energies fluxes Boussinesq approximation. In lower part of boundary layer, rate production kinetic energy (TKE) caused by shear much larger than that buoyancy, which results three-dimensional very complex nature. upper TKE due smaller causes unusual strongly anisotropic buoyancy-driven Considering applications obtained boundary-layer turbulence, theoretical relationships potentially useful modeling have been derived. EFB allows us obtain a smooth transition between provides an analytical expression entire including range parts it determine vertical profiles all characteristics, TKE, intensity potential temperature fluctuations, momentum buoyancy (proportional temperature), integral scale, anisotropy, Prandtl number, flux Richardson number.

Tangling Turbulence and Semi-organized Structures in Convective Boundary Layers
A new mean-field theory of turbulent convection is developed based on the idea that only the small-scale region of the spectrum is considered as turbulence, whereas its large-scale part, including both regular and semi-organized motions, is treated as the mean flow. In the shear-free regime, this theory predicts the convective wind instability, which causes the formation of large-scale semi-org...

The knowledge of the characteristics of the atmospheric turbulence is of fundamental importance in order to improve the performances of the adaptive optics systems in the next generation of telescopes. Starting from the statistical description of the turbulence, we derive a random field spatial model of the turbulent phase. Then we use this spatial statistical model to compute the spatial innov...

In his pioneering 1941 papers, Kolmogorov derived that the energy spectrum follows a universial form within a range of wavenumbers removed from both the forcing and dissipation and depending only on the wavenumber and the rate of dissipation. Analysis of the spectral kinetic energy budget can help explain the dynamics of the energy spectrum. Each term in this budget, representing nonlinear tran...

We report that the power driving gravity and capillary wave turbulence in a statistically stationary regime displays fluctuations much stronger than its mean value. We show that its probability density function (PDF) has a most probable value close to zero and involves two asymmetric roughly exponential tails. We understand the qualitative features of the PDF using a simple Langevin-type model.

In Earth system modelling, a description of the energy budget of the vegetated surface layer is fundamental as it determines the meteorological conditions in the planetary boundary layer and as such contributes to the atmospheric conditions and its circulation. The energy budget in most Earth system models has been based on a big-leaf approach, with averaging schemes that represent in-canopy pr...
