Enhanced thermal performance of tubular heat exchanger using triangular wing vortex generator

Enhancement of heat transfer for turbulent flow in a circular tube exchanger using triangular wing vortex generators (TWVG) is presented Computational Fluid Dynamics methodology. A detailed parametric analysis carried out to evaluate the impact non-dimensional base width (0.059–0.216), height (0.039–0.314) and different attack angle TWVG (α = 22.5°, 45°, 67.5°, 90°, 112.5° 135°) Re 6000–18,000. The results show that provides considerable improvement through two mechanisms such as impingement effect on upstream side formation downstream side. found decrease with increasing angle. However, friction factor increase from α 22.5° 90° drops all > due increased streamlined orientation generator air stream. Longitudinal vortices are formed whereas transverse generated other angles used which have lower mixing well coverage wall region. Greater greater enhancement. maximum enhancement Nusselt number range 2.61–2.96 6.54–8.1 respectively b/D 0.216 h/D 0.314. thermal produced by configuration having 0.235 0.059 has 1.34–1.63.
