Enhanced variable reluctance energy harvesting for self-powered monitoring

With the rapid development of microelectronic technology, wireless sensor nodes have been widely used in rotational equipment for health condition monitoring. However, many low-frequency applications, there still remains an open issue harvesting sufficient electrical energy to provide long-term service. Therefore, this paper enhanced variable reluctance harvester (EVREH) is proposed self-powered monitoring under rotation conditions. A periodic arrangement magnets and teeth employed achieve frequency up-conversion performance enhancement a specific space constraint. In addition, permeance air gap calculated by combined magnetic field division substituting angle method, output model EVREH derived parametric analysis based on law electromagnetic induction. Simulations experimental evaluations range structural parameters are then carried out verify effectiveness investigate harvester. The results indicate that could produce voltage 8.7 V power 726 mW speed 200 rpm, with density 0.545 mW/(cm3∙Hz2). Moreover, sensing system demonstrated, obtaining vibration spectrum rotating motor stator which can determine state during low speeds. autonomous self-sensing experiment verifies potential applications.
