Enhancing Ecocentric Environmental Attitudes: An Experience of Science Teaching to Inspire Students to Value Trees

Abstract Deforestation is a global issue. Education has fundamental role to play in this context. In regard, the direction and effectiveness of educational practices should focus on empowerment students ecocentric environmental attitudes. A key point education for sustainability pedagogical approaches focused development critical reflective thinking. context, objectified research was developed (re)conceptualization “living being”, with thermogram didacticization, as way develop egalitarian feelings need similar attitudes among living beings. The study an action-research pedagogical-didactic intervention within scope “Natural Sciences” curricular unit “Basic Education” degree at Portuguese Institution. After intervention, reconceptualization being” observed these students, presenting, now, reflexive argument concerning regarding – tree vs. animal, highlighting importance that thermographic images had (re)significance their “new look” tree.
