Enhancing Intersection Performance for Tram and Connected Vehicles through a Collaborative Optimization

This article tackles a pervasive problem in connected transportation networks: the issue of conflicting right-of-way between trams and Connected Vehicles (CV) at intersections. Trams are typically granted semi-exclusive right-of-way, leading to clash with CV. To resolve this challenge, study introduces Transit Signal Priority (TSP) system guidance framework that seeks minimize unintended delays for while minimizing negative impact on CV, passenger comfort, energy consumption, overall travel time. The proposed employs collaborative optimization an improved genetic algorithm adjust both signal phase duration operating path. is based data collected from simulated intersection includes sequence duration. findings demonstrate was able reduce transit time by 45.8% 481 CVs 17.1% compared conventional method. Additionally, consumption 34.7% non-comfort index 25.8%. Overall, research contributes development more efficient sustainable future.
