Enhancing LoRaWAN scalability with Longest First Slotted CSMA

Compelling features such as low power consumption and complexity make LoRaWAN one of the most promising technologies to provide long-range connectivity resource-constrained devices. However, suffers from limited scalability since it uses an Aloha-based protocol for accessing channel that causes a huge amount frame collisions when number devices (or network load) is high. This paper presents LFS-CSMA, new medium access control mechanism enhances networks by just combining well-known slotted Aloha CSMA schemes in novel manner. With longer frames are transmitted earlier within given timeslot. Thus, with short be can check availability before sending them avoid if they detect ongoing transmission. Performance results show LFS-CSMA far less than traditional MAC mechanisms, thus improving significantly.
