Enhancing the ecosystem approach for the fishery for Antarctic krill within the complex, variable, and changing ecosystem at South Georgia

چکیده

Abstract The objective of the ecosystem approach to fisheries management is sustain healthy marine ecosystems and they support. One earliest implementations was in Southern Ocean, where decision rules stock reference points were developed for managing Antarctic krill fishery, together with an ecosystem-monitoring programme intended aid decisions. This latter component has not been incorporated directly into management, so here, we consider variability fishery at South Georgia, relating it physical biological monitoring indices, finding sea surface temperature be a key correlate both annual catch long-term indices. Some indices from predators showed significant positive relationships harvesting preceding winter, presumably indicative importance winter foraging conditions. We explore how ecological structure affects results, examining two sites 100 km apart. Results suggest different conditions sites, probably reflecting scales operation, emphasizing that appreciation scale will enhance management. Finally, reviewing drivers change, identify important additional would help better reflect status, improve utility CEMP, providing information necessary Georgia.

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...

A potentIAl feedbAck ApproAch to ecosystem-bAsed mAnAgement: model predIctIve control of the AntArctIc krIll fIshery

CCAMLR aims to develop a feedback approach to aid ecosystem-based management (EBM) of Antarctic krill fisheries. It is important to assess whether a feedback approach is likely to achieve the multiple objectives that EBM implies in the complex and uncertain conditions typical of Antarctic marine ecosystems. This study used Model Predictive Control (MPC) to achieve objectives for a harvested spe...

Krill population dynamics at South Georgia: implications for ecosystem-based fisheries management

The South Georgia region supports a large biomass of krill that is subject to high interannual variability. The apparent lack of a locally self-maintaining krill population at South Georgia means that understanding the mechanism underlying these observed population characteristics is essential to successful ecosystem-based management of krill fishery in the region. Krill acoustic-density data f...
