Entropy bound and local quantum field theory
I comment on Ulvi Yurtsever’s result, which states that the entropy of a truncated bosonic Fock space is given by a holographic bound when the energy of the Fock states is constrained gravitationally. The derivation given in Yurtsever’s paper contains an subtle mistake, which invalidates the result. A more restrictive, non-holographic entropy bound is derived. PACS numbers: 04.70.-s, 03.67.-a

I show how the holographic entropy bound can be derived from elementary flat-spacetime quantum field theory when the total energy of Fock states is constrained gravitationally. This energy constraint makes the Fock space dimension (whose logarithm is the maximum entropy) finite for both bosons and fermions. Despite the elementary nature of my analysis, it results in an upper limit on entropy in...
متن کاملGeneralized Uncertainty Principle and Quantum
In the present work the role that a generalized uncertainty principle could play in the quantization of the electromagnetic field is analyzed. It will be shown that we may speak of a Fock space, a result that implies that the concept of photon is properly defined. Nevertheless, in this new context the creation and annihilation operators become a function of the new term that modifies the Heisen...

Heisenberg argued that wave and particle are too exclusively different in properties, making the intrinsic wave-quantum unity of light impossible to visualize and describe by the language. He invented mathematical Quantum Theory to circumvent visualization and inadequacy of language. But mathematics too is a language to supplement description. He used it to superimpose hidden concepts leading t...

There is reason to believe in the existence of a minimal length that can in principle be measured. This viewpoint stems in part from the realization that if enough massenergy is confined to a small region of space, a black hole must form. For example if one increases the energy of colliding particles beyond the Planck energy, one expects the short distance effects to be hidden behind an event h...
