Environmental Education Based on Local Values: Its Integration in the Indonesian Elementary School Curriculum

Environmental Awareness is a necessity for all age groups, including elementary school students. Proper understanding of ecological issues requires earlier initiation and introduction students to local-based content. This paper aims describe the need integrate environmental problems based on local wisdom within curriculum. The authors seek guide education planners in Indonesia how incorporate values or content specific subject proper awareness creation among target address gaps teaching primary schools across archipelago. Elementary are future citizens, whose environment works from localized perspective will help bring about better management. study used survey method, applying two clusters random sampling techniques. It was conducted selected around Bandung, capital city West Java Province, Indonesia. To collect data, structured questionnaires were examine. Later, data analyzed using simple statistical methods, drawing inferences descriptive analytics. Conclusively, this established that themes be included curriculum more clarity topics. suggested thematic topics should comprise related overcoming pollution; preventing global warming; wise use flora fauna, appropriate needed conservation sustainability.
