ER+: A Conceptual Model for Distributed Multilayer Systems

Distributed databases and data transformation mechanisms are highly relevant to Business Intelligence Data Analytics. Most enterprise systems today have multiple distributed databases, the growing dissemination of Edge-Oriented architectures is driving this trend across many industries business domains. The Entity-Relationship (ER) model fundamental modeling complex systems, but it has shortcomings. In particular, ER cannot represent transport between different locations (or databases) a system, nor can conceptually express operations, such as aggregate line functions, that standard in analytics. Therefore, we propose ER+, an extension model, where distribution, transport, transformation, information generation for operational analytical be visually identified. new ER+ representation another important benefit, provides basis transforming conceptual models into physical implementations data-oriented systems. This work introduces concepts illustrates their application. TPC-H use case also used demonstrate practicality model.
