Long-time behavior for the Hele-Shaw-Cahn-Hilliard system
We study the long time behavior of the Hele-Shaw-Cahn-Hilliard system (HSCH) which models two phase incompressible Darcian flow in porous media with matched density but arbitrary viscosity contrast. We demonstrate that the ω-limit set of each trajectory is a single stationary solution of the system via Lojasiewicz-Simon type technique. Moreover, a rate of convergence has been established. Event...
متن کاملImperfect Hele - Shaw cells
2014 The covering surfaces of a Hele-Shaw cell may be roughened mechanically, or modified by random chemical patches which change the wetting properties. We discuss first the quasi-static injection of a single fluid (with a finite contact angle 03B8e) in an imperfect cell. The shape of the injected region depends critically on a dimensionless number i (ratio of the boundary energy 03C4 over the...
متن کاملLong time regularity of solutions of the Hele-Shaw problem
In this paper we study the long-time behavior of solutions of the one phase Hele-Shaw problem without surface tension. We show that after a finite time solutions of the Hele-Shaw problem become Lipschitz continuous with nondegenerate free boundary speed. It then follows that after a finite time the solution and the free boundary become smooth in space and time. 0 Introduction Let K = {x ∈ IR : ...
متن کاملWell-posedness of the Hele-Shaw-Cahn-Hilliard system
We study the well-posedness of the Hele-Shaw-Cahn-Hilliard system modeling binary fluid flow in porous media with arbitrary viscosity contrast but matched density between the components. Well-posedness that is global in time in the two dimensional case and local in time in the three dimensional case are established. Several blow-up criterions in the three dimensional case are provided as well.
متن کاملNew bounds for stabilizing Hele-Shaw flows
We consider the problem of displacement processes in a three-layer fluid in a Hele-Shaw cell modeling enhanced oil recovery processes by polymer flooding. The middle layer sandwiched between water and oil contains polymer-thickened-water. We provide lower bounds on the length of the intermediate layer and on the amount of polymer in the middle layer for stabilizing the leading front to a specif...
