Error estimation of a homogenized streamwise periodic boundary layer

چکیده
This work concerns the simulation of a homogenized streamwise periodic boundary layer which reduces computational cost direct numerical simulations incompressible flat plate turbulent layers. It expands upon understanding how transpiration velocity changes dependent on whether blending function is used to account for inner and outer self-similar scaling effects. With this rescaling correction, lower Reynolds number effects are captured by simulation.

Measurements of streamwise and spanwise fluctuating velocity components in a high Reynolds number turbulent boundary layer
Measurements of the streamwise and spanwise fluctuating velocity components are obtained in a high Reynolds number turbulent boundary layer using custom made sub-miniature hot wires. These measurements are made over a range of Reynolds numbers from Reτ ≈ 3,000 to Reτ ≈ 10,500, but at fixed unit Reynolds number U∞/ν (Reτ = δUτ/ν; where ν is the kinematic viscosity, Uτ is the friction velocity an...
متن کاملTurbulent Streamwise Edge Effects in the Boundary Layer on a Flat Plate Finite Aspect Ratio
A detailed investigation of the turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate of finite aspect ratio at zero incidence has been made, incorporating measurements of mean velocity profiles and skin friction over one surface of the plate. Skin friction was measured using Prof. Preston's surface-tube technique with the N.P.L. calibration, and this is justified by comparison with the measured momentum de...
متن کاملA posteriori boundary element error estimation (
An a posteriori error estimator is presented for the boundary element method in a general framework. It is obtained by solving local residual problems for which a local concept is introduced to accommodate the fact that integral operators are nonlocal operators. The estimator is shown to have an upper and a lower bound by the constant multiples of the exact error in the energy norm for Symm’s a...

متن کاملAsymptotic Analysis of Boundary Layer Correctors in Periodic Homogenization
This paper is devoted to the asymptotic analysis of boundary layers in periodic homogenization. We investigate the behaviour of the boundary layer corrector, de ned in the half-space Ωn,a := {y · n− a > 0}, far away from the boundary and prove the convergence towards a constant vector eld, the boundary layer tail. This problem happens to depend strongly on the way the boundary ∂Ωn,a intersects ...
