Estimation of Stride Length, Foot Clearance, and Foot Progression Angle Using UWB Sensors

چکیده
Stride length (SL), foot clearance (FC), and progression angle (FPA) are the key parameters for diagnosing gait disorders. This study used distance data between two feet measured by ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors installed on shoes proposed a method estimating three parameters. Here, of compensating offset UWB sensor distances base one during stance phase other swing was applied. Foot trajectory acquired in experiment with ten healthy adults walking treadmill. The results were compared those obtained using motion capture system (MCS). UWBs displayed average errors 45.84 mm, 7.60 2.82° SL, FC, FPA, respectively, MCS. A similar accuracy level achieved previous that an inertial measurement unit (IMU). Thus, these suggest can be extensively applied to systems analyze mobile systems.

A Simple and Robust Stride Length Estimation Method using Foot-mounted Micro Gyroscopes
Accurate estimation of walking distance plays an important role in numerous applications, such as gait analysis, sport training and particularly pedestrian localization in indoor environment [1]. One possible pervasive solution is to make use of motion dynamics contained in the inertial signals such as frequency, maximum/minimum amplitude, to aggregate individual stride. However, the main chall...

Background: Determining an accurate clinical diagnosis for nonarthritic hip pain may be challenging, as symptoms related to femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) or hip instability can be difficult to elucidate with current testing methods. In addition, commonly utilized physical examination maneuvers are static and do not include a dynamic or weightbearing assessment to reproduce activity-related...
متن کاملQuantitative estimation of foot-flat and stance phase of gait using foot-worn inertial sensors.
Time periods composing stance phase of gait can be clinically meaningful parameters to reveal differences between normal and pathological gait. This study aimed, first, to describe a novel method for detecting stance and inner-stance temporal events based on foot-worn inertial sensors; second, to extract and validate relevant metrics from those events; and third, to investigate their suitabilit...
متن کاملHeight estimation from foot and shoeprint length.
Foot length displays a biological correlation with height that suggests the latter might be estimated from foot- or shoeprints when such evidence provides an investigator the best or only opportunity to gauge that aspect of a suspect's physical description. Previous utilization of percentages and linear regressions of foot length to make height estimates is reviewed and appraised, as is such us...
متن کاملAmbulatory estimation of foot placement during walking using inertial sensors.
This study proposes a method to assess foot placement during walking using an ambulatory measurement system consisting of orthopaedic sandals equipped with force/moment sensors and inertial sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes). Two parameters, lateral foot placement (LFP) and stride length (SL), were estimated for each foot separately during walking with eyes open (EO), and with eyes closed ...
