Single-species fisheries management (SSFM) is applied to many ecosystems around the world. The associated ecological impacts are usually not well understood due lack of considering trophic interactions among species in ecosystem. This impedes implementation SSFM an ecosystem context and reduces our ability understand possible fishing activities. study focuses on two economically important Jiaozhou Bay, China: short-lived, fast-growing, relatively abundant Japanese mantis shrimp ( Oratosquilla oratoria ) long-lived, slow-growing, less Korean rockfish Sebastes schlegelii ).
