Evaluating Observational Constraints on Intermodel Spread in Cloud, Temperature, and Humidity Feedbacks

چکیده

Abstract Uncertainty in climate feedbacks is the primary source of spread projected surface temperature responses to anthropogenic forcing. Cloud feedback persistently appears as main disagreement future projections while combined lapse‐rate plus water vapor (LR + WV) a smaller (30%), but non‐trivial uncertainty sensitivity. Here we attempt observationally constrain an effort reduce their intermodel uncertainties. The observed interannual variation provides useful constraint on long‐term cloud feedback, evidenced by consistency global‐mean values and regional contributions both timescales. However, variability does not serve LR WV spread, which find dominated varying tropical relative humidity (RH) response interhemispheric warming differences under clear‐sky conditions RH‐fixed all‐sky conditions.

Radiometric profiling of tropospheric temperature, humidity and cloud liquid

We describe a radiometric profiler that provides accurate temperature, humidity and cloud liquid profiles during clear and cloudy conditions. The radiometer observes radiation intensity at 12 microwave frequencies, along with infrared and surface meteorological measurements. Historical radiosonde and neural network or regression methods are used for profile retrieval. We compare radiometric, ra...

Intermodel spread of East Asian summer monsoon simulations in CMIP5

In this paper we diagnose the intermodel spread in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) simulations in the context of the moist static energy and moisture budgets. We find that the spatial distribution of the EASM precipitation simulated by different models is highly correlated with the meridional stationary eddy velocity, defined as the dev...

Computing and Partitioning Cloud Feedbacks using Cloud

7 Cloud radiative kernels and histograms of cloud fraction, both as functions of cloud 8 top pressure and optical depth, are used to quantify cloud amount, cloud height and cloud 9 optical depth feedbacks. The analysis is applied to doubled CO2 slab-ocean simulations 10 from ten global climate models participating in the Cloud Feedback Model Intercomparison 11 Project. In the ensemble mean, tot...

Functional Modeling of Iranian Precipitation Based on Temperature and Humidity

Functional Data Analysis (FDA) has recently made considerable progress because of easier access to the data that are essentially in the form of curves. Modeling of Iranian precipitation based on temperature and humidity with continuous the essential nature of such phenomena that are continuous functions of time has not been done properly. The corresponding data are generally collected daily or ...

Effect of Genetic Group, Season, Their Interaction, Temperature, Humidity and Temperature-Humidity Index on Maintenance Behavior of Stud Bulls

Stud bull plays an important role in the development of animal husbandry. Detailed knowledge about maintenance behavior of stud bulls is essential for practicing better management conditions in the farm to support the artificial insemination (AI) industry demand. Therefore, a comparative study was conducted on stud bulls to evaluate the effect of genetic group, season, genetic group × season in...
