چکیده
Background: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) remains a major health threatening disease in Iran and many countries around the world. Antimony compounds are currently used to treat CL. Due side effects high resistance, use of alternative therapies, especially nanoparticles, has been considered by researchers. The aim this study was investigate anti-leishmanial activity selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) on Leishmania vitro. Methods: In experimental study, SeNPs evaluated at concentrations 1.25, 2.5, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 µg/mL exposure times 24, 48, 72 hours 106 live parasites. Then, number parasites counted trypan blue using neobar slide light microscope (Hemocytometer method). Glucantime distilled water were positive negative controls, respectively. 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) values calculated SigmaPlot™ 13 software. All reactions performed triplicate, results as average. Results: revealed that all have activity. had highest effect (100%) after exposure. Further, IC50 content L. be 42.76, 34.53, 22.69 µg/mL, Conclusions: indicated different an growth major. However, further investigations required determine efficacy vivo.

BACKGROUND Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is an endemic disease in developing countries. Although pentamidine orantimonite (Glucantime) has been recommended for cutaneous leishmaniasis treatment by the World Health Organization, there are some concerns too such as high cost, side effects, need for frequent injections, and restricted efficacy. Therefore, different methods have been used for CL tre...
