Evaluation of the cognitive performance under hot-humid environments using heart rate variability

The human cognitive performance under hot and humid exposure is a critical issue for people working environments, the considerations of both their health safety. In order to find an indicator performance, electrocardiogram (ECG) data were recorded continuously 2.5 hours with portable Holter, when participants exposed 4 hot-humid environmental conditions conducting different tests. ECG then analysed obtain HRV indices that used establish relationship test results. Temporal index pNN50 time domain was selected as biomarker in this study. Results showed responded significantly air temperature, while influences tasks found be less significant. Meanwhile, mean accuracy positively related changes pNN50, but negatively between reaction observed. Furthermore, positive relative obtained, which meant higher performance. potential reason could ascribed temperature-related allocation mental resources. And low attributed rise fatigue due high sympathetic activities corresponded pNN50. results revealed act exposure. findings gave some implications real-time evaluation environments.
