Evaluation of the rheological effect of asphalt binder modification using Linum usitatissimum oil

Warm mixtures are an essential alternative for paving as they minimize costs and environmental impacts, their performance is similar to hot mixtures. This research evaluated the effect of adding linseed oil obtained from Linum usitatissimum in contents 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6% by weight on physical rheological properties asphalt binder. The binder was through tests penetration, softening point, rotational viscosity, grade (PG); these were performed before after short-term aging procedure; multiple stress creep recovery (MSCR), linear amplitude sweep (LAS). It has been verified that mixing temperature could be reduced up 15 °C content, but it lost terms performance, level supported traffic, fatigue life.
