Evidence from Galactic Cosmic Rays That the Sun Has Likely Entered A Secular Minimum in Solar Activity

چکیده
Since the beginning of space age, Sun has been in a multi-cycle period elevated activity (secular maximum). This secular maximum is longest last 9300 years. end solar cycle 21 (SC21), however, shown decline overall activity, which remarkably increased fluxes galactic cosmic rays (GCRs). Here, we investigate correlation between modulation GCRs, heliospheric magnetic field, and wind speed for 24 cycles to find trends that can potentially be used predict future activity. Specifically, develop tool predicting field intensity, based on hysteresis GCR variation, during phases current cycle. method estimates SC25 will as weak or weaker than SC24. would mean likely entered minimum, which, according historical records, should another two (SC25 SC26).

متن کاملCosmic rays from Galactic pulsars
We calculate energy spectra and mass composition of cosmic rays accelerated by the galactic population of pulsars during their radio and gamma-ray phase. It is assumed that a significant part of the pulsar rotational energy is lost on acceleration of iron nuclei extracted from the surface of the neutron star. The nuclei are accelerated, at first when passing the outer gap of the inner pulsar ma...

متن کاملSolar Modulation on Galactic Cosmic Rays in the Earth’s Atmosphere
A brief review of solar modulation on galactic cosmic rays in the earth’s atmosphere is presented. The results of the characterizations of the major two events i.e. Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCRs)(measured in counts) and Galactic Solar rays(GSRs) (measured in counts) against time (measured in hour) shows significant variations. It was also observed that the variations of the events are slightly out...
متن کاملGalactic cosmic rays & gamma rays : a synthesis
We have developed a model which aims to reproduce observational data of many kinds related to cosmic-ray origin and propagation: direct measurements of nuclei, antiprotons, electrons and positrons, γ-rays, and synchrotron radiation. Our main results include evaluation of diffusion/convection and reacceleration models, estimates of the halo size, calculations of the interstellar positron and ant...
