Evidence of phyllosilicate alteration processes and clay mineral neoformation promoted by hydrothermal fluids in the Padul Fault area (Betic Cordillera, SE Spain)

چکیده

Geochemical changes and authigenic clays were detected in the fault rocks of Padul Fault. An enrichment from protolith to ultracataclasites Si, Al, Fe, Ca, Ti also Zn but an impoverishment Mg was detected. Although (dolostones) are mostly composed carbonates, characterized by presence fine-grained matrix (mainly chlorite Mg-rich biotite, smectite punctually talc). Neither nor talc protolith. The application thermometry gives temperatures around 140–220 °C for chlorites lamellae located on plane. These compositionally homogeneous, whereas cataclasites more variable, although both them have almost no Fe. As well, usually include their composition and, as observed at nanoscale, they genetically related biotites, which come Talc grains (< 1 μm) always found between dolomite calcite. observations point clay mineral reactions precipitation promoted circulation fault-controlled hydrothermal fluids close 200 °C. Other such result final step activity fault. identification minerals, cause weakening mechanisms, is consistent with geodetic characterization Fault, plays important role aseismic deformation.

Tectonically driven landscape development within the eastern Alpujarran Corridor, Betic Cordillera, SE Spain (Almerı́a)

The Betic Cordillera is a topographic manifestation of Miocene to recent collision between the African and the European plates. Mountain ranges in the Internal Zone of the Betic Cordillera are exhumed massifs of metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, and are surrounded by low-lying sedimentary basins. The Neogene history of mountain range uplift and basin formation in the Betics is well studied, bu...

Evidence for Impact-induced Hydrothermal Clay Mineral Formation At

Introduction: Over 13 years after landing at Meridiani Planum and in her 10 extended mission, Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity continues to explore the rim of ~22 km diameter Endeavour crater [1]. The rim exposes material that is older than the S-rich, layered sedimentary rock covering the Meridiani plains and filling much of the interior of Endeavour. Clay mineral exposures at the rim have b...

Timing of tectonic events in the Alpujárride Complex, Betic Cordillera, southern Spain

Ar–Ar and fission-track dating from four low-grade sections in the Alpujárride Complex sheds light on the timing of the early contractional history of these high-pressure metamorphic units, and their subsequent exhumation during the early Miocene extensional collapse of the Betic orogen. White mica grains from the lowest-grade rocks yield partly reset detrital Ar–Ar ages; where deformation and ...

Lower-middle Eocene benthic foraminifera from the Fortuna Section (Betic Cordillera, southeastern Spain)

Benthic foraminifera were studied as part of an investigation of the Fortuna Section (Betic Cordillera, Southeastern Spain), undertaken to document a candidate section for the Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) for the base of the Lutetian Stage (Ypresian/Lutetian boundary). Benthic foraminiferal assemblages in this section are mostly dominated by calcareous taxa (~50-96%) and by infaun...

Delineation of hydrothermal alteration Zones for porphyry systems utilizing ASTER data in Jebal barez area, SE Iran

Abstract: The Urumieh-Dokhtar Magmatic Belt (UDMB) is the host of many Iranian Cu porphyry deposits. Southern part of this belt, in the range of geological Jebal barez, has been less investigated because of the mountainous and rough topography and also some security confrontation. Porphyry deposits are associated with hydrothermal alteration zones can be mapped using remote sensing data such as...
