Evolution of Pneumatic Tsunami Simulators–From Concept to Proven Experimental Technique

چکیده
This paper describes the evolution through three generations of pneumatic Tsunami Simulators for physical model tests realistic tsunami. The method, originally developed tidal modeling in Fifties, has been modernized to generate extraordinarily long waves a controlled manner, with accurate reproduction recorded free-surface tsunami field data. how simulator designs were and they performed laboratory. Example results are presented from selected research studies that have validated their performance then used quantify effects. Having described each first, second, third generation Simulators, discusses calibrate wave control periods 20–240 s duration (equivalent 2–20 min prototype at 1:50 scale), many which far too “fit into test flume.” composite approach calibration is examples second devices, demonstrated by successful simulation both 2004 Boxing Day, 2011 Great Eastern Japan (Tohoku) scale.

متن کاملEvolution of tsunami warning systems and products
Each year, about 60 000 people and $4 billion (US$) in assets are exposed to the global tsunami hazard. Accurate and reliable tsunami warning systems have been shown to provide a significant defence for this flooding hazard. However, the evolution of warning systems has been influenced by two processes: deadly tsunamis and available technology. In this paper, we explore the evolution of science...
متن کاملThe evolution of anaesthesia. 4. Pneumatic medicine.
ALTHOUGH none of the work done by the eighteenth-century scientists forms a direct link with anaesthesia, yet knowledge of any kind is bound to influence the future. The discovery of gases in the second half of the century was not only of profound consequence to chemistry, but also to medicine and the world. In order to understand how the discovery of anaesthesia is placed in history, it is nec...
