Exact Monte Carlo calculation method for <i>K</i>-eigenvalue change using perturbation source method

The ‘perturbation source method’ (PSM) is a Monte Carlo perturbation method that calculates an exact k-eigenvalue change caused by cross-section changes. Although the PSM, which can consider effect of fission perturbation, was proposed long ago, it has garnered minimal interest as method. applicability PSM not been thoroughly elucidated hitherto. This study revisits and reviews associated algorithm. Some improvements have made to improve efficiency. applied some numerical tests involve replacement fuel material with light water, density in water hole, interface shift between reflector, external boundary extension. performance for these compared another method, correlated sampling yield accurate even large changes such material. used this except approximation related spatial discretization perturbation. Furthermore, exhibits superiority terms accuracy computational efficiency, particularly perturbations added small region.
