چکیده
Abstract Experimental results on laminar-to-turbulent transition in a separated laminar boundary layer formed over flat plate an adverse pressure gradient are provided. Experiments have been performed for range of Reynolds numbers (1.4 − 2.4 · 10 5 ) and two freestream turbulence levels ( Tu =3.6 5.3%). The measurements mean fluctuating velocity profiles carried out at inlet to the test section using Constant Temperature Anemometry (CTA). data might be useful validation development models. In order characterize dynamics leading process surface, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) performed. show that is influenced by breakdown Klebanoff streaks.

Laminar-turbulent transition process in pulsatile flow.
A controlled ex-vivo study of a simple, sinusoidally oscillating flow in a rigid, constant-area, smooth tube, has produced significant insight into the laminar-turbulent transition phenomenon. The development of turbulence was studied by analyzing the dynamic characteristics of the transition process; i.e., the velocity, growth rate, and intermittency which describe the generation and propagati...
متن کاملA parametric study of adverse pressure gradient turbulent boundary layers
There are many open questions regarding the behaviour of turbulent boundary layers subjected to pressure gradients and this is confounded by the large parameter space that may affect these flows. While there have been many valuable investigations conducted within this parameter space, there are still insufficient data to attempt to reduce this parameter space. Here, we consider a parametric stu...
متن کاملLaminar-to-turbulent transition in pulsatile flow through a stenosis.
Laminar-to-turbulent transition in pulsatile flow through a stenosis is studied by means of three-dimensional numerical simulations. The flow transition is associated with the occurrence of a flow instability initiating in the stenosis region. The instability is manifested by a three-dimensional symmetry-breaking and leads to asymmetric separation and intense swirling motion downstream of the s...
متن کاملConstant adverse pressure gradient turbulent boundary layers
Significant progress has been made towards understanding the large scale features of wall-bounded shear flow in zero pressure gradient (ZPG) turbulent boundary layers (TBL). Here we consider their effects in adverse pressure gradient (APG) flows where the pressure gradient parameter is held constant and Reynolds number is varied. This is done by documenting the changes in the mean velocity, str...
متن کاملUse of a Mariotte bottle for the experimental study of the transition from laminar to turbulent flow
A Mariotte bottle is a device that provides a constant effusion velocity for liquids. We discuss a Mariotte bottle that has been designed to study the flow regime and the transition from laminar to turbulent flow. Several straight, smooth, circular glass tubes with different lengths and sections were inserted into the lower part of the bottle so that the rate of flow could be measured in very d...
