چکیده
An experimental study was performed to investigate the combustion instability characteristics of swirl-stabilized combustors. A premixed gas composed ethylene and air burned under various flow geometric conditions. Experiments were conducted by changing inlet mean velocity, equivalence ratio, swirler vane angle, combustor length. Two dynamic pressure sensors, a hot-wire anemometer, photomultiplier tube installed detect oscillations, velocity perturbations, heat release fluctuations in chambers, respectively. ICCD camera used capture time-averaged flame structure. The objective understand relationship between Rayleigh criterion/the When occurred, oscillations in-phase with oscillations. Effect of swirl on combustion dynamics in a lean-premixed swirl-stabilized combustor
The effect of inlet swirl on the flow development and combustion dynamics in a lean-premixed swirl-stabilized combustor has been numerically investigated using a large-eddy-simulation (LES) technique along with a level-set flamelet library approach. Results indicate that when the inlet swirl number exceeds a critical value, a vortex-breakdown-induced central toroidal recirculation zone is estab...

The dynamics of major flow structures were studied in a gas turbine model combustor for perfectly premixed swirlstabilized flames under a variety of reacting and non-reacting conditions using high-repetition-rate laser diagnostics. The studied combustor is a target case for the International Workshop on Advanced Measurement Techniques and Computational Methods for Premixed and Partially Premixe...

متن کاملForced Response: Turbulent Swirl Combustor
Since a large number of physical variables are involved in the combustion process occurring in complex swirl stabilized combustors, simple systems (burner stabilized laminar flat flames) were initially studied (see chapters 5 and 6). Having understood the dynamics of laminar flat flames and developed methodologies to build reduced order flame dynamic models, the technique developed to measure t...
متن کاملCombustion dynamics of swirl-stabilized lean premixed flames in an acoustically-driven environment
Combustion instability is a process which involves unsteady chemical kinetic, fluid mechanic, and acoustic processes. It can lead to unstable behavior and be detrimental in ways ranging from faster part fatigue to catastrophic system failure. In terms of combustion methodology, combustion instability has been a key issue for lean premixed combustion. The primary objective of this work is to imp...
