Experimental validation of the Active Shielding Particle Pusher code

Passive radiation shielding alone is insufficient for protecting astronauts from galactic cosmic ray exposure. Active shields, utilizing electromagnetic fields to deflect heavy charged ions in space, could be used supplement conventional passive shielding. Due experimental limitations, simulation capability crucial designing effective active shields. The purpose of this work validate the Shielding Particle Pusher (ASPP) code, characterize efficacy, using beamline measurements conducted at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Emphasis placed on (1) comparing efficacy as a function scaled dimensionless parameter among various electric dipole sphere sizes and center-to-center distances, (2) rotation angle voltage applied each varied independently, (3) observed simulations broaden validation domain ASPP. Simulated measured data are shown agree within factor 1.10 average. results demonstrate that scaling parameters characteristic shield incident can create laws range ion species relevant exposure energies.
