Explaining the W boson mass anomaly and dark matter with a U(1) dark sector*

چکیده

The $W$ boson mass recently reported by the CDF collaboration shows a deviation from standard model prediction with an excess at $7\sigma$ level. We investigate two simple extensions of extra $U(1)$ dark sector. One is $U(1)_x$ extension, where gauge field mixes through kinetic terms. other general $U(1)_{\mathbf{A} Y+\mathbf{B} q}$ extension model. Fitting various experimental constraints we find only mixing can enhance for most 10~MeV. While easily generate 77~MeV enhancement and also offer viable matter candidate ranging several hundred GeV to TeV, which may be detected future direct detection experiments improved sensitivities.

Probing the Dark Sector with Dark Matter Bound States.

A model of the dark sector where O(few  GeV) mass dark matter particles χ couple to a lighter dark force mediator V, m_{V}≪m_{χ}, is motivated by the recently discovered mismatch between simulated and observed shapes of galactic halos. Such models, in general, provide a challenge for direct detection efforts and collider searches. We show that for a large range of coupling constants and masses,...

Decaying Dark Matter and the PAMELA Anomaly

Astrophysical and cosmological observations do not require the dark matter particles to be absolutely stable. If they are indeed unstable, their decay into positrons might occur at a sufficiently large rate to allow the indirect detection of dark matter through an anomalous contribution to the cosmic positron flux. In this paper we discuss the implications of the excess in the positron fraction...

Neutrino Mass and Dark Matter

Despite direct observations favoring a low mass density, a critical density universe with a neutrino component of dark matter provides the best existing model to explain the observed structure of the universe over more than three orders of magnitude in distance scale. In principle this hot dark matter could consist of one, two, or three species of active neutrinos. If all present indications fo...

Explaining the WMAP Haze with Neutralino Dark Matter

It has been argued that the anomalous emission from the region around the Galactic Center observed by WMAP, known as the WMAP Haze, may be the synchrotron emission from relativistic electrons and positrons produced in dark matter annihilations. In particular, the angular distribution, spectrum, and intensity of the observed emission are consistent with the signal expected to result from a WIMP ...

Dark Matter and the SUSY Mass Scale

The connection between the present density of neutralinos that are left over from the Big Bang and the superparticle mass scale is briefly reviewed. Superparticle mass scales in the range from a few GeV to several TeV can lead to an acceptable density of thermal relic neutralinos, the actual value depending on relations between the masses of certain sparticles and Higgs bosons. To appear in the...
