Exploring commute mode choice in dual-earner households in a small Chinese city

Most research on the impact of built environment (BE) travel behavior and residential self-selection (RSS) has focused at individual rather than household level. Using data collected in small Chinese city Ganyu, present explored how BE factors spouses’ work locations influence their joint commute mode choice, extent to which RSS occurs. Based results nested logit modeling, we found that choice is less related instead significantly associated with workplace accessibility. Moreover, also evidence RSS, individuals’ preferences cities.
