Exploring Different Pretreatment Methodologies for Allowing Microalgae Growth in Undiluted Piggery Wastewater

چکیده
The overapplication of manure on agricultural soils leads to nitrogen and phosphorus discharge into the aquatic environment, resulting in serious eutrophication problems decreased water quality. Piggery wastewater (PWW) can be treated by microalgae recycle nutrients, but toxic levels ammonia organic matter hinder their growth. Fresh is usually used dilute PWW, it a scarce resource. implementation pretreatment step before microalgae-based treatment could make PWW suitable for Electrocoagulation, stripping, photo-Fenton, constructed wetlands were evaluated as methods reduce ammonia, chemical oxygen demand (COD), color, total suspended solids. Moreover, pretreated PWWs tested grow microalga Tetradesmus obliquus. Photo-Fenton showed best results among other pretreatments, achieving removal efficiencies above 90%, except ammonia. This resulted T. obliquus being capable growing undiluted even at higher levels, similar biomass productivity synthetic medium (66.4 ± 17.8 mg·L−1·day−1 60.1 10.4 mg·L−1·day−1, respectively) almost doubling with pH control (116.5 mg·L−1·day−1). Thus, this seems most promising one incorporate systems must further explored.

Fungal pretreatment of raw digested piggery wastewater enhancing the survival of algae as biofuel feedstock
BACKGROUND Understanding about the impact of white rot fungi on indigenous bacterial communities, NH4+ and turbidity in digested piggery wastewater, will allow the optimization of wastewater treatment methods and its use as a feasible medium for algal growth. Here, the white rot fungi were inoculated into undiluted and unsterilized digested piggery wastewater under different temperatures and pH...
متن کاملMicroalgae Cultivation in Wastewater for Nutrient Removal
Wastewater is the spent or used water containing dissolved or suspended solids such as pollutants and microbes, including nutrients. The wastewater discharged into the water bodies are hazardous to environment and cause various health problems in human beings. Eutrophication is one such major environmental problem caused due to the discharge of nutrient rich wastewater into the nearby water bod...

متن کاملToxicity Evaluation of Antibiotics in Piggery Wastewater by Luminescent Bacteria
Antibiotics, as special pollutants in piggery wastewater, have negative effects on wastewater treatment processes. However, it is difficult to obtain a clear understanding of the toxic potency of antibiotics using the common inhibitory experiments of wastewater because of their low concentrations. Therefore, this study for the first time reports research on examining the toxic strength of pigge...
