Face Recognition at a Distance: System Issues
Face recognition at a distance (FRAD) is one of the most challenging forms of face recognition applications. In this chapter, we analyze issues in FRAD system design, which are not addressed in near-distance face recognition, and present effective solutions for making FRAD systems for practical deployments. Evaluation of FRAD systems is discussed.
متن کاملFace Recognition at a Distance
Face recognition, and biometric recognition in general, have made great advances in the past decade. Still, the vast majority of practical biometric recognition applications involve cooperative subjects at close range. Face Recognition at a Distance (FRAD) has grown out of the desire to automatically recognize people out in the open, and without their direct cooperation. The face is the most vi...
متن کاملA Face Recognition System for Access Control using Video
The objective of this work is to recognize faces using video sequences both for training and novel input, in a realistic, unconstrained setup in which lighting, pose and user motion pattern have a wide variability and face images are of low resolution. There are three major areas of novelty: (i) illumination generalization is achieved by combining coarse histogram correction with fine illuminat...
متن کاملNonlinear Control for Positive Output Super Lift Luo Converter in Stand Alone Photovoltaic System
This paper proposes a stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) system based on a DC-DC positive output super lift Luo (POSLL) converter. A conventional sliding mode control, a sliding mode controller using a simple sign function and a linear controller using proportional integrator (PI) are used for the control of the PV panel voltage and POSLL converter inductor current and these methods are compared tog...
متن کاملTowards Face Recognition at a Distance
Current face recognition algorithms require the tacit cooperation of users, who must position themselves in a small area of space and face the camera. Face recognition in uncontrolled conditions, such as in security camera footage presents two extra challenges. First, it is difficult to capture good quality images of faces in this setting. Second, the pose of the face is relatively uncontrolled...
