Facilitation of Value Creation in Professional Learning Networks

Professional learning networks (PLN) in Higher Education represent new social configurations for networked workplaces which education, research and innovation can be combined. Here academic staff engages with others outside of their everyday organisational community. This study identifies conceptualizes essential behaviours that facilitators professional use to promote value creation various kinds. 
 The two-phase started an empirical field on the stories 11 participants within 3 investigate facilitator behaviours. A panel including 30 researchers, lecturers practitioners representing a wide range networks, was conducted validate enrich findings derived from study. From 54 were identified. raised 68 complementary statements Qualitative data analysis lead five themes behaviour. Facilitators’ contributions workplace contexts understood as interplay foci facilitative behaviour: 1. relationship, 2. space, 3. ownership, 4. direction, 5. result. Findings concerning are synthesised conceptualisation process dynamic workplaces: Facilitator Compass.
 paper provides insight what plays major role success networks: way they facilitated. While is acknowledged literature practice, this adds knowledge base by showing how navigate workplaces.
