Fast and Accurate 2D Analytical Subdomain Method for Coaxial Magnetic Coupling Analysis

Magnetic couplings (MCs) enable contactless speed/torque transmission via interactions between the magnetic fields of permanent magnets (PMs) rather than a physical mechanical connection. The power leads to improvements in terms efficiency and reliability due absence wear moving parts. One most common MC topologies is coaxial type, also known as radial configuration. This paper presents an analytical tool for accurate fast analysis (CMCs) using two-dimensional subdomain approach. In particular, proposed resolves Laplace’s Poisson’s equations both air-gap PM regions. can be used evaluate impact several design parameters on performance CMC, enabling quick sensitivity analyses, which turn guide choice parameters. After discussing building procedure tool, its applicability suitability analyses are assessed proven with fully parameterized CMC geometry. accuracy computational burden compared against those finite element method (FEM), revealing faster solving times acceptable levels precision.
