Fermi surface resonance and quantum criticality in strongly interacting Fermi gases

چکیده

Fermions in a Fermi gas obey the Pauli exclusion principle restricting any two fermions from occupying same quantum state. Strong interactions between can completely change properties of gas. In our theoretical study we find an exotic phase strongly interacting gases subject to certain condition imposed on surfaces that call surface resonance. The is critical time and space be identified by power-law dependence spectral density frequency momentum. linear-response functions are singular static limit at Kohn anomalies. We analyze state finite temperatures $T$ size $L$ provide qualitative $L\ensuremath{-}T$ diagram. experimentally found typical semiconductor heterostructures.

Strongly interacting Fermi gases

Measurements have confirmed a theoretical prediction published in 2006: all strongly interacting Fermi gases were predicted to show identical thermodynamic behaviour. Late in 2006, detailed experimental data became available for the first time, for different fermions under different conditions. All the new data lies on a single universal curve, exactly as we predicted. This is an outstanding di...

Universality in Strongly Interacting Fermi Gases

The theory of strongly interacting fermions is of great interest. Interacting fermions are involved in some of the most important unanswered questions in condensed matter physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics and cosmology. Though weakly-interacting fermions are well understood, new approaches are required to treat strong interactions. In these cases, one encounters a “strongly correlated” pic...

Strongly Interacting Fermi Gases under the Microscope

Strongly Interacting Fermi Gases under the Microscope Martin Zwierlein Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA Strongly interacting fermions govern the physics of e.g. high-temperature superconductors, nuclear matter and neutron stars. The interplay of the Pauli principle with strong interactions can give rise to exotic properties that we do not even understand at a qualitative le...

Strongly Interacting Fermi Gases: Non-Equilibrium Dynamics and Dimensional Crossover

Experiments using ultracold atomic gases address fundamental problems in manybody physics. This thesis describes experiments on strongly-interacting gases of fermionic atoms, with a focus on non-equilibrium physics and dimensionality. One of the fundamental dissipative processes in two-component gases is the transport of spin due to relative motion between the two spin components. We generate s...
