Flow field optimizing study of low temperature economizer in a coal-fired boiler

The complex structure of double inlet gas flue has a significant influence on flow field distribution in 1000MW coal-fired boiler’s low temperature economizer. In order to optimize the economizer with flues and reduce its failure rate, this paper presents simulation based computational fluid dynamics (CFD). This numerical was operated by using porous media model instead inside heat exchanger standard k-epsilon model. Velocity contours same vertical cross-section exchange zone different simulations were evaluated evaluation RSM. results show that main reasons for uneven are unequal diameter elbow straight flue, unreasonable setting guide plate diffusion elbow. After making structural optimization such as equalizing reasonably, obviously improved.
