Flux focused series arrays of long Josephson junctions for high-dynamic range magnetic field sensing

Series arrays of closely spaced, planar long Josephson junctions were demonstrated to be transducers magnetic flux featuring high-dynamic range, wide-bandwidth, and the capability operate at cryogenic nitrogen temperatures. By tuning scaling geometry these devices, it is possible improve their sensitivity an applied field generate higher voltage responses. Moreover, devices feature linear responses allowing for potential unlocked operation. Herein, we study focusing effect in series junctions, which are well-suited fabrication thin films high-transition temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7−δ via helium focused ion beam irradiation. We present efforts characterize array properties sensing, with investigations single junction behavior demonstrations small large junctions. Furthermore, two-tone spectroscopy performed quantify practical linearity response. In this work, a 2640 demonstrated, achieving 1.7 mV/μT response over region 10.6 μT resulting dynamic range 117 dB while operating 40 K.
