Formalizing and guaranteeing human-robot interaction

چکیده

Robot capabilities are maturing across domains, from self-driving cars, to bipeds and drones. As a result, robots will soon no longer be confined safety-controlled industrial settings; instead, they directly interact with the general public. The growing field of Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) studies various aspects this scenario - social norms joint action human-robot teams more. Researchers in HRI have made great strides developing models, methods, algorithms for acting around humans, but these "computational HRI" models generally do not come formal guarantees constraints on their operation. To enable human-interactive move lab real-world deployments, we must address gap. This article provides an overview verification, validation synthesis techniques used create demonstrably trustworthy systems, describes several domains that could benefit such techniques, roadmap challenges research needed formalized guaranteed interaction.

Human-robot Interaction and Robot Control

This paper describes a robot control architecture with an underlying human-robot interaction (HRI) model. The architecture is supported on an algebraic framework inspired in semiotics principles. The architecture is composed of a set of objects that capture, in the locomotion context, features often present in human-human interactions, namely ambiguity and semantics. The resulting framework dif...

Semiotics and human-robot interaction

This paper describes a robot control architecture supported on a human-robot interaction model obtained directly from semiotics concepts. The architecture is composed of a set of objects defined after a semiotic sign model. Simulation experiments using unicycle robots are presented that illustrate the interactions within a team of robots equipped with skills similar to those used in human-robot...

Guaranteeing Spoof-Resilient Multi-Robot Networks

Multi-robot networks use wireless communication to provide wide-ranging services such as aerial surveillance and unmanned delivery. However, effective coordination between multiple robots requires trust, making them particularly vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Specifically, such networks can be gravely disrupted by the Sybil attack, where even a single malicious robot can spoof a large number of f...

Physical Human – Robot Interaction

C lose physical interaction between robots and humans is a particularly challenging aspect of robot development. For successful interaction and cooperation, the robot must have the ability to adapt its behavior to the human counterpart. Based on our earlier work, we present and evaluate a computationally efficient machine learning algorithm that is well suited for such close-contact interaction...
