Fourier-over-spheroid shape parametrization applied to nuclear fission dynamics

چکیده

We propose a new, rapidly convergent shape parametrization, the so-called Fourier-over-spheroid (FoS) approach, to model fission of heavy nuclei. Four collective coordinates are used characterize fissioning system: its elongation, left-right asymmetry, neck size, and nonaxiality. The potential energy landscape is computed within macroscopic-microscopic on top which multidimensional Langevin equation solved describe dynamics. Charge equilibration at scission deexcitation primary fragments after further considered. gives access wide variety observables, including fragments' mass, charge, kinetic yields, fragment mean $N/Z$ postscission neutron multiplicities, and, importantly, their correlations. latter crucial unravel complexity process. parameters were tuned reproduce experimental observation from thermal neutron-induced $^{235}\mathrm{U}$, next discuss transition asymmetric symmetric along Fm isotopic chain.

Brownian shape dynamics in fission

It was recently shown that remarkably accurate fission-fragment mass distributions are obtained by treating the nuclear shape evolution as a Brownian walk on previously calculated five-dimensional potentialenergy surfaces; the current status of this novel method is described here.

Measurement of bovine sperm nuclear shape using Fourier harmonic amplitudes.

An objective method for measuring bovine sperm nuclear shape was developed. Digital images of bovine sperm stained with propidium iodide were collected and Fourier functions used to describe the perimeters of individual sperm nuclei. Harmonic amplitudes from Fourier functions were first shown to be independent of sperm orientation during digitization. Sperm from 12 different bulls were used, an...

Surface Parametrization and Shape Description

Procedures for the parametrization and description of the surface of simply connected 3-D objects are presented. Critical issues for shape-based categorization and comparison of 3-D objects are addressed, which are generality with respect to object complexity, invariance to standard transformations and descriptive power in terms of object geometry. Starting from segmented volume data, a relatio...

Dynamics of Cell Shape Inheritance in Fission Yeast

Every cell has a characteristic shape key to its fate and function. That shape is not only the product of genetic design and of the physical and biochemical environment, but it is also subject to inheritance. However, the nature and contribution of cell shape inheritance to morphogenetic control is mostly ignored. Here, we investigate morphogenetic inheritance in the cylindrically-shaped fissio...

Parametrization of Nuclear Parton Distributions

Optimum nuclear parton distributions are obtained by analyzing available experimental data on electron and muon deep inelastic scattering (DIS). The distributions are given at Q 2 =1 GeV 2 with a number of parameters, which are determined by a χ 2 analysis of the data. Valence-quark distributions are relatively well determined at medium x, but they are slightly dependent on the assumed parametr...
