From shear stress to wall pressure spectra: a semi-analytical approach to account for mean pressure gradients in turbulent boundary layers

چکیده
This study offers a semi-analytical means to compute the wall pressure spectra beneath turbulent boundary layer depending only on latter’s Kármán number and dimensionless gradient. By inclusion of total mean shear profiles in mixing length model, velocity can be reconstructed under adverse, zero- favourable gradients. These serve as input existing models thus remove need for experimental or numerical data. The modelled frequency fairly estimate level measured ones. three typical regions those are recovered, although overlap one is shorter than with data, trends gradients effects also observed. wavenumber representation shows effect convective ridge structure its aspect ratio increases from adverse same variation observed absolute values ratios do not match, qualitative observations made.

A Semi-analytical Approach to Elastic-plastic Stress Analysis of FGM Pressure Vessels
An analytical method for predicting elastic–plastic stress distribution in a cylindrical pressure vessel has been presented. The vessel material was a ceramic/metal functionally graded material, i.e. a particle–reinforcement composite. It was assumed that the material’s plastic deformation follows an isotropic strain-hardening rule based on the von-Mises yield criterion, and that the vessel was...
متن کاملCoherent structures in turbulent boundary layers with adverse pressure gradients
The coherent structures in turbulent boundary layers (TBLs) subjected to adverse pressure gradients (APGs) were investigated by analyzing a database of direct numerical simulations. The equilibrium adverse pressure gradient flows were established by using a power law free-stream distribution. The population trends of the spanwise vortices show that the outer regions of the APG TBLs are densely ...
متن کاملPressure and shear stress measurements at the wall in a turbulent boundary layer on a cylinder
The fluctuating wall shear stress, wall pressure, and streamwise velocity were measured simultaneously in a cylindrical boundary layer at a momentum thickness Reynolds number of Reu52160 and a boundary layer thickness to cylinder radius ratio of d/a55 using a hot wire wall shear stress probe mounted just upstream of a hearing aid microphone and a hot wire velocity probe. Variable Interval Time ...
متن کاملConstant adverse pressure gradient turbulent boundary layers
Significant progress has been made towards understanding the large scale features of wall-bounded shear flow in zero pressure gradient (ZPG) turbulent boundary layers (TBL). Here we consider their effects in adverse pressure gradient (APG) flows where the pressure gradient parameter is held constant and Reynolds number is varied. This is done by documenting the changes in the mean velocity, str...
