Gaia EDR3 Proper Motions of Milky Way Dwarfs. II Velocities, Total Energy, and Angular Momentum

چکیده
Here we show that precise Gaia EDR3 proper motions have provided robust estimates of 3D velocities, angular momentum and total energy for 40 Milky Way dwarfs. The results are statistically independent the mass profile. Dwarfs do not behave like long-lived satellites because their excessively large momenta, energies. Comparing them to other MW halo population, find many at first passage, $\le$ 2 Gyr ago, i.e., more recently than passage Sagittarius, $\sim$ 4-5 ago. We suggest this is in agreement with stellar populations all dwarfs, which a small fraction young stars cannot be excluded. also dwarf radial velocities contribute too little kinetic when compared satellite systems only regulated by gravity, some mechanism must work such as ram pressure. latter may preferentially reduced progenitors entered until they lost gas. It could explain why most dwarfs lie near pericenter. discover novel scale structure perpendicular disk, made 20% orbiting or counter Sagittarius dwarf.

Proper motions of field L and T dwarfs - II
By using images taken with WFCAM on UKIRT and SofI on the NTT and combining them with 2MASS we have measured proper motions for 126 L and T dwarfs in the dwarf archive. Two of these L dwarfs appear to have M dwarf common proper motion companions, and 2 also appear to be high velocity dwarfs, indicating possible membership of the thick disc. We have also compared the motion of these 126 objects ...
متن کاملThe nuclear star cluster of the Milky Way: Proper motions and mass
Context. Nuclear star clusters (NSCs) are located at the photometric and dynamical centers of the majority of galaxies. They are among the densest star clusters in the Universe. The NSC in the Milky Way is the only object of this class that can be resolved into individual stars. The massive black hole Sagittarius A* is located at the dynamical center of the Milky Way NSC. Aims. In this work we ...

GAIA is a short-listed candidate for the ESA Cornerstone mission C5, meeting the ESA Survey Committee requirement for an observatory mission, dedicated to astrometry, providing 10 micro-arcsecond accuracy at 15th magnitude. The GAIA mission concept follows the dramatic success of the ESA HIPPARCOS mission, utilising a continuously scanning spacecraft, accurately measuring 1-D coordinates along ...
متن کاملProper Motion of Milky Way Dwarf Spheroidals from Line-of-sight Velocities
Proper motions for several Milky Way dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxies have been determined using both ground and space-based imaging. These measurements require long baselines and repeat observations and typical errors are of order ten milli-arcseconds per century. In this paper, we utilize the effect of “perspective rotation” to show that systematic proper motion of some dSphs can be determine...
متن کاملProper motions of field L and T dwarfs
The proper motion measurements for 143 previously known L and T dwarfs are presented. From this sample we identify and discuss 8 high velocity L dwarfs. We also find 4 new wide common proper motion binaries/multiple systems. Using the moving cluster methods we have also identified a number of L dwarfs that may be members of the Ursa Major (age≈ 400 Myr), the Hyades (age≈ 625 Myr) and the Pleiad...
