Spatial Resolution Measurements of Gallium Arsenide Microstrip Detectors
Results are reported from beam test measurements of one of the first commercial prototype gallium arsenide microstrip detectors. The detector consisted of 128 strips on a 50μm pitch, with a wafer thickness of 200μm. Operating at a bias of 180V, the detector produced a signal to noise ratio of 19 to 1, with a particle detection efficiency of better than 99%. The spatial resolution of the detecto...
متن کاملPixel Detectors for Charged Particles
Pixel Detectors, as the current technology of choice for the innermost vertex detection, have reached a stage at which large detectors have been built for the LHC experiments and a new era of developments, both for hybrid and for monolithic or semi-monolithic pixel detectors is in full swing. This is largely driven by the requirements of the upgrade programme for the superLHC and by other colli...

Gallium Arsenide detectors for X-ray and electron (beta particle) spectroscopy
Results characterizing GaAs pþ-i-nþ mesa photodiodes with a 10 mm i layer for their spectral response under illumination of X-rays and beta particles are presented. A total of 22 devices, having diameters of 200 mm and 400 mm, were electrically characterized at room temperature. All devices showed comparable characteristics with a measured leakage current ranging from 4 nA/cm to 67 nA/cm at an ...
متن کاملGallium Arsenide - Based Readout Electronics
The readout of detector arrays requires the monolithic or hybrid integration of a integrate circuit multiplexer with the detector array. In most LWIR and VLWIR applications, a hybrid approach is used. For example, the detector array may be built from HgCdTe and the readout integrated circuit may be silicon CMOS [1]. The two integrated circuits are mated through a bump-bonding process in which e...
