Generating a seismogenic source zone model for the Pyrenees: A GIS-assisted triclustering approach

چکیده
Seismogenic source zone models, including the delineation and characterization, still have a role to play in seismic hazard calculations, particularly regions with moderate or low seismicity. Seismic zones establish areas common tectonic characteristics, described by unique magnitude–frequency distribution. Their definition can be addressed from different views. Traditionally, been geographically outlined seismotectonic, geological structures, earthquake catalogs. Geographic information systems (GIS) of great help their definition, as they deal rigorously less ambiguously available geographical data. Moreover, novel computer science approaches are now being employed definition. The Pyrenees mountain range – southwest Europe is located region characterized In this study, method based purely on catalogs, managed GIS triclustering algorithm, were used delineate seismogenic Pyrenees. Based an updated, reviewed, declustered, extensive, homogeneous catalog (including detailed about each event such date time, hypocentral location, size), algorithm has applied generate zones. seeks seismicity patterns quasi-objective manner following initial assessment best suited parameters. eight identified part study represented maps analyzed, covered Arudy–Arette Bagnères de Bigorre one highest potential.

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

A previous definition of seismogenic zones is required to do a probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for areas of spread and low seismic activity. Traditional zoning methods are based on the available seismic catalog and the geological structures. It is admitted that thermal and resistant parameters of the crust provide better criteria for zoning. Nonetheless, the working out of the rheological...
