Genetic algorithms for the design of planar THz antenna

This paper proposes a genetic algorithm for the design of passive components operating at THz frequencies and its experimental validation using an exemplar patch antenna. The antenna is based on SU8 substrate, with binary array describing placement metal “bits” replacing conventional patch. These are constrained 25 × μm 2 , ensuring ease fabrication. Optimal configurations this determined finite-difference time-domain solver coupled to algorithm, which simulates optimizes maximum power collection in frequency range 0.10–5.0 THz. aim was produce evolved double efficiency across majority compared reference, plain same size. successful 5.3 dB mean improvement simulated reference A vector network analyzer conjunction 0.80–1.0 extenders used validate simulation results. antennas were arranged pairs variable feed length determine feedline attenuation directionality.
