Global desert variation under climatic impact during 1982–2020

چکیده
Deserts are important landscapes on the earth and their variations have impacts global climate through feedback processes. However, there is a limited understanding of climatic controls spatial temporal deserts. Here, we use reanalysis datasets, land use/land cover (LULC) products CMIP6 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project) model outputs to calculate changing deserts during 1982–2020, estimate future trends Our results show that mean annual desert area over this period 17.64×106 km2, accounting for 12% terrestrial land. Desert areas decreased rapidly from end 1980s 1990s in North Africa Australia, followed by slow expansion early 21st century globally. Spatio-temporal arid characterized interdecadal fluctuations, clear regional differences dynamics aridity index (AI, used here as proxy drylands) areas. Statistical analyses reveal increased vegetation directly related reduction area, while potential evaporation, surface temperature humidity also significantly correlated with area. The relationship between wind speed varies regionally. simulations suggest will expand century, albeit at different rates under ssp245 ssp585 scenarios. expansions modelled be greatest Asia, those southern may reduce borders migrate northwards.

Climatic change controls productivity variation in global grasslands
Detection and identification of the impacts of climate change on ecosystems have been core issues in climate change research in recent years. In this study, we compared average annual values of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) with theoretical net primary productivity (NPP) values based on temperature and precipitation to determine the effect of historic climate change on globa...
متن کاملImpact of Width Variation of Global Inductive VLSI Interconnect Line
In this paper the impact of width variation is being addressed on transition time, power dissipation and crosstalk noise in coupled inductive lines for different switching patterns. The finding of simulation reveals that there is first decrease in transition delay and then it increases afterwards. It is also observed that power increases slowly with width increasing and also
متن کاملThe impact of climatic variation on the opportunity for sexual selection.
Many studies have demonstrated influences of climatic variation on a variety of ecological processes, however, its impact on the potent evolutionary force of sexual selection has largely been ignored. The intensity of sexual selection is a fundamental parameter in animal populations, which depends upon the degree of polygamy and will probably be influenced by the impact of local climatic variat...
متن کاملClimatic changes: what if the global increase of CO(2) emissions cannot be kept under control?
Climatic changes threaten the planet. Most articles related to the subject present estimates of the disasters expected to occur, but few have proposed ways to deal with the impending menaces. One such threat is the global warming caused by the continuous increase in CO2 emissions leading to rising ocean levels due to the increasing temperatures of the polar regions. This threat is assumed to ev...
متن کاملGlobal climatic drivers of leaf size.
Leaf size varies by over a 100,000-fold among species worldwide. Although 19th-century plant geographers noted that the wet tropics harbor plants with exceptionally large leaves, the latitudinal gradient of leaf size has not been well quantified nor the key climatic drivers convincingly identified. Here, we characterize worldwide patterns in leaf size. Large-leaved species predominate in wet, h...
