Grain yield, harvest index, water‐use efficiency and nitrogen partitioning to grain can be improved by application of the plant growth regulator paclobutrazol to maize plants with reduced N supply

Abstract Applications of plant growth regulators such as paclobutrazol (PAC) to grain maize frequently caused depressions in yield. This negative impact probably originated from treatments at an early stage during ontogenesis when the determination potential kernel number coincided with time regulator application. However, stability yield itself is high relevance, and it also key determinant for harvest index (HI) use efficiencies water (WUE) nutrients (NUE). Therefore, a container experiment, effect delayed PAC application V8 was tested ( Zea mays L.) cultivars Galactus Fabregas. Immediately after treatment, differential N fertilization introduced order meet demand control plants (100% N), supply 75% N. It can concluded that very complex task achieve right balance between dosage, optimal avoid both, deficiency, NUtE plants.
