چکیده

We present 0.4 arcsec-resolution imaging polarimetry at 8.7, 10.3, and 12.5 microns, obtained with CanariCam the Gran Telescopio Canarias, of central region W51 IRS2. The polarization, as high 14 percent, arises from silicate particles aligned by interstellar magnetic field. separate, or unfold, polarization each sightline into emission absorption components, which we infer morphologies corresponding projected fields that thread emitting foreground-absorbing regions. conclude field in foreground material is part larger-scale ambient morphology mid-IR spanning cometary HII IRS2W similar to absorbing region. Elsewhere, two differ significantly no clear relationship between them. across core appears be an integral a champagne outflow gas originating dominating energetics there. bipolar outflow, W51north jet, originate near SMA1/N1 coincides almost exactly clearly demarcated north-south swath lower polarization. While speculative, comparison submm on different scales may support picture plays major role structure

Infrared Imaging Polarimetry of Massive Star-forming Regions

Imaging polarimetry is a useful tool to reveal the 3D structure of dust distributions and to localize embedded young stellar objects (YSOs). We present maps of the linear polarization at 2.2μm for three ultra-compact HII regions (UCHIIs, G192.16−3.82, G331.28−0.19, G339.88−1.26) and the methanol maser source G305.21+0.21. From the polarization maps, we draw conclusions on the morphology of thes...

Magnetic Fields in Star-Forming Molecular Clouds: JCMT Polarimetry of OMC-3 in Orion A

Using the new imaging polarimeter mounted on SCUBA at the JCMT, we have detected polarized thermal emission at 850 m from dust along the 6 length of the dense lament known as OMC-3 in Orion A. The polarization pattern is highly ordered and is aligned with the long axis of the lament throughout most of the region, diverging only near the southern boundary by 30-60 (see Figures 1 and 2). This con...

Near-Infrared Imaging Polarimetry of the NGC 2071 Star Forming Region with SIRPOL

We have conducted deep JHKs imaging polarimetry of a ∼8 × 8 area of the NGC 2071 star forming region. Our polarization data have revealed various infrared reflection nebulae (IRNe) associated with the central IR young star cluster NGC2071IR and identified their illuminating sources. There are at least 4 IRNe in NGC2071IR and several additional IRNe are identified around nearby young stars in th...

Near - Infrared Imaging Polarimetry of the Star Forming Region NGC 2024

We conducted wide-field JHKs imaging polarimetry toward NGC 2024, which is a massive star-forming region in the Orion B cloud. We found a prominent and extended polarized nebula over NGC 2024, and constrained the location of illuminating source of the nebula through the analysis of polarization vectors. A massive star, IRS 2b with a spectral type of O8 − B2, is located in the center of the symm...

Magnetic Fields in Massive Star Forming Regions

We present the largest sample of high-mass star-forming regions observed using submillimetre imaging polarimetry. The data were taken using SCUBA in conjunction with the polarimeter on the JCMT in Hawaii. In total, 16 star forming regions were observed, although some of these contain multiple cores. The polarimetry implies a variety of magnetic field morphologies, with some very ordered fields....
