Gut-Skin axis and healthy skin: a systematic review

Introduction: The skin has a multifactorial aging process, both by intrinsic and extrinsic predictors. Skin diseases contributed almost 2.0% to the global burden of 308 injuries in recent years. role gut microbiota (GM) human is important. GM directly affects through gastrointestinal system. microbial impact on still not fully understood. Objective: present study analyzed major scientific evidence relationship between skin, emphasizing importance intestinal health for aesthetically healthy skin. Methods: systematic review rules PRISMA Platform were followed. research was carried out from February May 2023 Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo, Google Scholar databases. quality studies based GRADE instrument risk bias according Cochrane instrument. Results Conclusion: A total 137 articles found. 47 evaluated 27 included developed study. Considering tool bias, overall assessment resulted 30 at high 13 that did meet GRADE. It concluded current reveals existence an important Skin-GM axis, highlighting management dermatoses probiotics prebiotics, as well lifestyle changes. To establish it imperative manipulate achieve balance. Thus, treatments elevate or repair bowel are essential adjunctive therapy inflammatory may contribute effectiveness standard dermal therapy.
