Hardware Evaluation for GaN-Based Single-Phase Five-level Inverter

This study aims to assess the performance of Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based inverters in high-power applications through simulations and a hardware-in-the-loop experiment. The focus is on efficacy GaN-based for multilevel topologies, five-level cascaded H-bridge inverter controlled by Texas Instruments (TI) C2000 microcontroller was used conduct Prior experiment, were conducted showcase setup half-bridge, full-bridge, inverter, as well generation Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). To test converter topology, specifically H-bridge, an evaluation board half-bridge from Efficient Power Conversion Inc. daughter GaN Systems utilized non-linear components hardware-in-loop experiments. PWM pulses generated TI most setups phase-shifted modulation implemented inverter. Experimental results are demonstrated with voltages which further indicates promising future applications.
